The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), functions as a multi-disciplinary research forum dedicated to analyzing Sri Lanka’s strategic interest in the realm of international relations within the contemporary domestic and global contexts.
The Institute is named after the Late Lakshman Kadirgamar, P.C., M.P., who served as Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka on three occasions and was assassinated by the LTTE on 12th of August 2005.
The Institute’s role is wide ranging, and is mandated to project a national perspective on issues related to international relations and strategic studies. The Institute also provides a forum for analysis and exchange of knowledge with a view to foster a better understanding of international issues and their national implications, to influence and shape the domain of national policy, while becoming the repository of knowledge in the areas of strategic studies and international relations.
